There is a plethora of used cars available for those in the market for a second-hand vehicle, but which one do you choose? Here is a run-down of the three best-selling used cars in the UK:
Ford Focus – The staple of the Ford range is Britain’s most popular selling used car. This is actually the first time since 2007 that a supermini hasn’t taken the title. The Focus’ little brother, the Fiesta, and its rival the Corsa usually top the list, but the larger hatchback and its related advantages have helped it overtake them.
Ford Fiesta – Bumped down the order by its bigger sibling, the Fiesta is still one of the UK’s favourite cars. The new model has carried on from where its predecessor left off, and even the hot ST version has become so popular Ford is having to increase production levels.
Vauxhall Corsa – Despite having one of the least popular brand names in the business, the Corsa has always done Vauxhall proud and continues to do so. The Corsa has been one of the most popular cars of the last four years.
The Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf rounded off the top five, but the UK’s interest in 4×4’s doesn’t look to be diminishing, either. SUV sales were up in 2012 by 5.2 per cent compared to 2011, with the Land Rover Freelander the most popular of these. MPVs on the other hand saw a sales drop of 1.1 per cent, perhaps highlighting how SUVs a replacing MPVs as the family car of choice.
Green cars saw a massive 47 per cent increase in sales over 2012, with the Toyota Prius topping this list thanks to a sales hike of 35 per cent.
