2017 Ford Escape

The 2017 Ford Escape is really the great escape

Ah…such a nice car. The 2017 Ford Escape is not only a nice car – it’s a great car and it can be your great escape from all the car problems you’ve had in the past. We went to Sunset Ford of Sumner the other day and bought one of these great SUVs. This stylish crossover has everything going for it. The 168–hp four-cylinder engine has plenty of power to get you where you want to go but if you go with the 179-hp turbo four-cylinder or the 245-hp turbo four you will certainly get there a bit quicker – if that’s what you want to do.

The Escape comes with front-wheel drive but you can get optional all-wheel drive if that’s what you need. Performance is outstanding and handling and steering is precise and responsive. The user-friendly 8.0-inch touchscreen with voice recognition lets you easily control all your accessories. The Escape gets 23 mph in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. You can jump from zero to sixty in 7.1 seconds and your top speed with the 245-hp engine will be 116 mph. Not too shabby at all.

In the safety and reliability department the Ford Escape gets the highest marks available from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). It received five stars overall, the top rating, for Frontal Barrier Crash Rating, and five stars overall for Side Barrier Rating, Combined Side Barrier & Pole Ratings and Combined Side Barrier and Pole Ratings. There are plenty of airbags to go around and other safety features include lane departure prevention, adaptive cruise control, forward collision control and a drowsy driver warning system.

The new Ford Escape also has plenty of cargo space, especially when the back seats are folded down and hands-free power lift gate. If you look closely you’ll see that the old lever parking brake has been replaced by a button. Those Ford designers think of everything, don’t they. Also look for air-conditioning, front wheel drive, Synch tech interface with AppLink smartphone integration, MyKey parental controls, a 4.2-inch central display and among many other features, a six-speaker sound system and USB port. You can see the 2017 Ford Escape for yourself at Sunset Ford.
